In Grade 10 you and your child will begin your abacus journey by learning the introductory concepts and foundations for abacus math. Here we will be learning how to add and subtract single-digit numbers both on the abacus and with image abacus, which is what we call the practice of imagining the abacus in our mind and performing mental math with the abacus. By the end of Grade 10, most students are already able to quickly add and subtract single-digit numbers in their mind using abacus mental math!
GRADE 9

Average duration: 6 months
Grade 9
In Grade 9 we will be moving up to adding and subtracting 2-digit numbers on the abacus while also continuing to practice and strengthen our accuracy and speed with image abacus on 1-digit numbers. In Grade 9 we will also introduce the concept of multiplication and teach an entire course on memorizing and mastering our times tables, which will become very useful when we learn multiplication on the abacus in the next grade!

In Grade 8 we will be learning how to do both multiplication and division on the abacus. We will also be practicing intensively with adding and subtracting much longer and faster problems with 2-digit numbers, using both our abacus and image abacus, further building our mental math capacity and speed!

In Grade 7 we will be ramping up to adding and subtracting with 3-digit numbers on the abacus. We will also be working to solve multiplication and division problems with up to 4-digit answers.
